Saparmurat Niyazov, the Turkmen dictator whose cruel eccentricities raised him high in the pantheon of history's most bizarre megalomaniacs, died of a heart attack yesterday aged 66...And some people still support political correctness.
...In response to an outbreak of bubonic plague in 2004, Mr Niyazov banned the word "plague" and outlawed all infectious diseases. Hundreds died.
