Beater Petie

A not unexpected result but one did anticipate a larger protest vote.

What is it about Peter Beattie that holds Queenslander's so enthralled? Probably not a lot anymore.

The Beattie Labor Government and its electorate are so like an abusive spouse and their partner it's astounding.

He was so charming and handsome at the start of the relationship but now it's obvious he's a liar and a cheat, always promising stuff he won't deliver and taking credit for others' achievements.

Oh sure, in public he's all smiles and happy hand waving but in private you can die waiting for surgery.

Of course, he's been caught out dozens of times but he puts on his sad and serious face and says he so sorry and it won't happen again so the media goes away but it's you who's got to face him tomorrow when the ambulance is turned away from the overcrowded hospital or the power goes out.

It's true you've been courted by another but you can't bring yourself to run away with them. Can you trust them? Can you trust anyone anymore?

Maybe it's better the devil you know that the one you don't. At least you know what to expect and you know he'll be sorry afterwards. For a little while.
